
Jarman was not out of time. The earth in which he toiled, in the end, was not far from the earth that his body was to return to. His body and the earth were forever linked, It was just a matter of time. Jarman “…cultivate(d) the ghosts of past gardeners, past gardens, and past utopias,.” (pg 11) Ellis evokes the temporalities of past dirt, but Jarman’s garden made from waste earth and his body remain, Jarman created futures.
